Week 1 · Plot
The Core & The Structural X-Ray
We dissect your plot, identify structural pacing issues, and map out the exact rewriting strategy. We find your script's true center.
The 4-Week Re-Write Workshop · Individual 1:1 coaching
You’ve written the first draft. Now give it a clearer structure, stronger characters and more purposeful scenes through four weeks of individual 1:1 rewriting, feedback and your personal rewrite deck. For screenplays, stage plays and short stories of up to 60 pages.
FROM A GENERIC GOOD TO A SPECIFIC EXcellent script
You already did the hard thing: you got the whole story onto the page. The next stage is different. Rewriting asks you to see what the draft is actually doing — not what you hoped it was doing.
Once it’s your complete draft, the questions get painfully specific. What stays? What changes? Where does the pressure disappear? Which character needs more contradiction? When is dialogue acting — and when is it just explaining?
Meet your rewrite coach
I’m a Creative Writing Coach, writer and actress, trained in screenwriting, playwriting and storytelling across UCLA, La Sorbonne, CUNY and a Master’s in Cinema & Television.
I know what it feels like to love a draft and still know it is not there yet. That is why this workshop is not about vague encouragement, cosmetic polishing, or changing lines because somebody said so.
We use four weeks to get specific. We look at what each beat, relationship and line is doing dramatically. We test choices against the story you are actually writing, then you go back to the page and make the rewrite yours.
Your rewrite, week by week
Every week isolates one layer of the same draft. We don’t jump around and ‘fix’ things at random: we move from the spine of the story to the people inside it, then cut and refine before hearing the whole thing out loud.
Week 1 · Plot
We dissect your plot, identify structural pacing issues, and map out the exact rewriting strategy. We find your script's true center.
Week 2 · Characters & Dialogue
We look at character mechanics, motivations and relationships, then move into dialogue: what each person wants, where the emotional pressure lives, and when a line is acting instead of explaining.
Week 3 · Review, Cut & Refine
This is our flexible session: we review the new edits, see what the rewrite has changed, identify the parts that are still weaker, cut what is superfluous and tighten the flow.
Week 4 · Final Feedback + Table Read
We finalize formatting check, tone consistency, and preparation for your next big step. We have a table read of your entire script. .
Everything That’s Included in Your Re-Write Workshop

The presentation we use in the sessions isn’t a generic workbook. I build it around your draft — your characters, your scenes, your relationships, your lines. It becomes the place where we diagnose the rewrite, test choices and turn feedback into something you can actually do on the page.
We work with concrete examples from your own pages — not hypothetical exercises or someone else’s script.
We compare versions and make the progress visible: relationships, dialogue, character work and the story choices that changed.
Contradictions, wants, needs, fears, habits, emotional pressure and arc of change — including what a character still has to discover about themselves.
We ask what the scene is actually doing, where the conflict lives, and whether a character is alive on the page or only functional to the plot.
We separate dialogue that acts from dialogue that explains, identify subtext and tactics, and rework lines step by step.
Questions, editable fields and targeted prompts make the session active rewrite work — not passive feedback you have to decode later.
How the rewrite works
Join the workshop with a completed play, screenplay or short story of up to 60 pages. This is our working document for the full four weeks.
Each session isolates a layer of the draft. We work on the page, use targeted questions and exercises, and you take the decisions back into your rewrite between sessions.
In the final week we do a full feedback pass, hear the work in a table read, and identify what the story still needs before your next step.
This is for you if…

Yes. This workshop begins after the first draft is complete. You need a finished play, screenplay or short story of up to 60 pages. If you are still drafting, this is not the right stage for this workshop yet. If you are unsure, email lisa@storytellingwithlove.com and we can figure out the right next step.
A play, screenplay or short story, as long as you have a complete first draft and the project is no longer than 60 pages.
You rewrite. At the beginning of the next session, we look at what changed, how the work happened, and what the new version revealed. If you need help planning the work between sessions, email lisa@storytellingwithlove.com or reply to your workshop email.
No. This is guided rewriting, not ghostwriting. I will help you see the dramatic problem, ask sharper questions, test alternatives and understand what each choice is doing. You remain the writer — and the rewrite remains yours.
We do a final feedback pass, look at the story as a whole, and finish with a full table read before defining the next steps for the project.
Send it to lisa@storytellingwithlove.com. You’ll receive a reply within 24 hours, Monday to Friday.

Your first draft proved the story exists
Bring the complete draft. We’ll spend four weeks questioning it, strengthening it, cutting what does not serve it, and listening for the version that is trying to emerge.
